Yale University is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to provide legal advice and support across various university departments. The role involves working on legal, regulatory, and policy matters, including employment, student affairs, investigations, litigation oversight, dispute management, and policy development.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Providing strategic legal advice to diverse clients within the university.
• Supporting updates to university policies in response to legal and regulatory changes.
• Researching and drafting legal memoranda, opinions, and correspondence.
• Handling responses and documentation for investigations.
• Monitoring legal developments and managing outside counsel efficiently.
• Performing additional duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:

• J.D. degree and at least 3 years of relevant experience.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, drafting, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
• Strong interpersonal skills for working with diverse university stakeholders.
• Attention to detail and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• More than 4 years of legal experience, with litigation experience preferred.

Licenses: Admission to the Connecticut bar required within one year of hire.

Work Details:

• Full-time, regular employment, 37.5 hours/week.
• On-site at Central Campus, 2 Whitney Avenue, New Haven, CT.
• Work model: On-site.
