Montefiore Assistant General Counsel Job Description

Montefiore is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to serve in its Office of Legal Affairs. This role involves providing legal advice and assistance across the organization to all levels of Montefiore associates, including directors, administrators, and senior executives. Responsibilities include managing a wide range of legal matters such as:

1. General healthcare issues
2. Contract negotiations
3. Commercial transactions
4. IT and intellectual property matters
5. Clinical service arrangements
6. Physician practice acquisitions
7. HIPAA and privacy issues
8. Corporate governance and structuring
9. Regulatory compliance
10. Patient care issues

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice law in the state of New York
• At least 5 years of significant legal work experience, primarily in transactional matters, with a focus on contract negotiation, either as in-house counsel or external legal counsel
• Experience in the healthcare industry is a plus
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong client service, problem-solving, project management, and negotiation capabilities
