Summary The YMCA Early Learning Center-Colerain, a
Step Up To Quality (SUTQ) rated program, is seeking a nurturing and dependable
Assistant Toddler Teacher to join our team. This position plays a vital role in supporting the developmental needs of toddlers (18 months?3 years) in a high-quality, state-rated early childhood environment. The Assistant Teacher will work under the guidance of the Lead Teacher to create a safe, engaging, and responsive classroom that aligns with Ohio's early learning standards and SUTQ requirements.
Duties - Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing developmentally appropriate activities that promote learning through play.
- Support classroom routines, including diapering, toileting, mealtimes, and transitions in accordance with licensing and SUTQ standards.
- Foster a warm and supportive environment where toddlers feel safe, curious, and valued.
- Help observe and document children's development and behaviors.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the classroom to meet health and safety standards.
- Communicate positively with families and staff to support children's success.
- Participate in required professional development to maintain SUTQ standards.
Requirements 1. Minimum 18 years of age.
2. Must possess a high school diploma, or have completed a GED program approved by the state Department of Human Services or the state Board of Education; and
3. Must meet all licensing requirements under the Department of Human Services of the state and local governments; and
4. Must complete and maintain current status in CPR/First Aid/AED/Oxygen, Common Childhood Illnesses, and Child Abuse Prevention.
5. Must possess and demonstrate ability to engage in all activities associated with the daily care, activities and routines of the program?s children, including but not limited to: interacting with children at floor level, physical education activities such as running, jumping, etc., lifting children and/or equipment and participating in outdoor activities, field trips and swimming as needed; and
6. Must possess visual, oral, auditory, decision-making abilities, and written communication skills appropriate for interacting with both children and adults; and
7. Must be capable of implementing the daily administrative, program-related, and supervisory responsibilities of an Early Childhood Care and Education program.
Nice To Haves - Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or coursework in Early Childhood Education.
- Prior experience working in a Step Up To Quality (SUTQ) rated center.
- Familiarity with the Ohio Early Learning and Development Standards .
- CPR, First Aid, Communicable Disease, and Child Abuse Recognition certifications.
- Strong understanding of toddler development , including social-emotional and language milestones.
- Ability to implement or support developmentally appropriate practices (DAP) .
- Positive behavior guidance techniques and classroom management skills.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and quality improvement.
