About us

We’re Daeji Dough Company, Lakeview’s newest neighborhood bakery. We started out as a farmers market stand over a year ago and are thrilled to open our doors to the Chicago community. We make handcrafted baked goods and beverages with fun, delicious flavor combinations and the highest quality ingredients. And we’re looking for like-minded individuals with a desire to make a real, day-to-day impact as we build our start-up from the ground up. 

Position: Part-Time Barista

Daeji Dough Company is looking for experienced and enthusiastic baristas to join our team! If you're passionate about coffee, creative with tea, and love creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for customers, we'd love to hear from you. This is a part-time role at roughly 20 hours per week.

You will

• Deliver exceptional customer service by greeting guests warmly, taking orders accurately, and addressing any inquiries or concerns in a friendly and helpful manner
• Prepare and serve a variety of coffee and tea beverages, including espresso-based drinks, with consistency, quality, and style
• Operate and maintain equipment, including espresso machines, grinders, and brewing equipment
• Maintain a clean and organized store, including the coffee bar, service area, customer seating area, retail shelves, and bathroom
• Restock supplies, including coffee beans, milk, pastries, disposables, merch, and other items
• Present pastries and other food items in the display case
• Approach your station, shift, and team with a high level of accountability, respect, and positive energy
• Proactively assist teammates and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
• Promptly address guest concerns within the bakery
• Perform additional front-of-house tasks as assigned

• Eligible to work in the United States and 18 years of age or older

You have

• Proven experience in customer service, retail, or hospitality
• Strong knowledge of coffee techniques, ingredients, and a passion for coffee, tea, and presentation
• A creative mindset and an eagerness to proactively identify opportunities for shop-wide improvement
• Ability to stand for long periods of time, lift up to 50 lbs, frequent walking, bending, reaching, twisting
• Ability to smell and taste our products to ensure quality control for all beverages and food products
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to listen and speak clearly to take orders, guide guests, and create positive experiences
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• A flexible schedule and are available to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Existing Food Handlers Certification and Allergy Certification
