Job Description

We are not looking for third party, consultants, or independent bookkeepers. We are looking to hire an in-person bookkeeper to join our company as a full-time employee.

Since 1983, Metro Safety & Fire, Inc. has served Portland, Oregon / Vancouver, Washington, and the surrounding counties providing fire/life safety equipment and recurring maintenance service to the small and large businesses in these communities.

Our service includes fire extinguishers, pre-engineered fire suppression systems, fire alarm systems, fire sprinkler systems, and the ancillary equipment associated with them.

Job Title: Bookkeeper

Hours: Full-Time, M-F, 8:00AM – 5:00PM with 1 hr lunch or 8:30AM – 5:00PM with 30 min lunch

Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to manage all financial transactions in our small business. This includes managing payroll, handling accounts payable and receivable, organizing records and financial reports, reconciling bank statements, collections, and executing general bookkeeping tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting processes.
  • Maintain and balance general ledger in an accurate, complete, and timely manner.
  • Develop monthly financial statements, including cash flow, profit and loss statements, and balance sheets.
  • Prepare quarterly and monthly tax returns, along with payroll, operating and business taxes.
  • Administer accounts payable and receivable.
  • Monitor financial transactions and reports.
  • Process accounts receivable.
  • Assist with budget preparation.
  • Handle collections and maintain our AR at an average of 4%.


Requirements:

  • 2 years minimum of proven bookkeeping experience with a solid understanding of accounting principles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and knowledge of bookkeeping software.
  • Strong numerical skills, attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to pass a background check for bonding.
  • Certification as a bookkeeper or accounting technician (e.g., CPB or AAT).


Preferred:

  • 5 years of experience of proven bookkeeping experience with a solid understanding of accounting principles.
  • Proficient in QuickBooks desktop and online version.
