Job Title: Chemist
Job Description

The Chemist will be responsible for handling the preparation and testing of various samples, primarily focusing on food, feed, pharmaceutical, and vitamin samples. The role involves running HPLC, GC, LC-MS, and occasionally ELISA to conduct routine and specialized chemical analyses. This position requires the ability to operate and calibrate laboratory equipment, interpret data, and ensure compliance with established protocols and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, test, and analyze samples to ensure compliance with established protocols and industry standards.
• Maintain accurate records of experiments, results, and observations in laboratory notebooks and electronic systems.
• Operate and calibrate laboratory equipment including chromatographs, spectrometers, and other analytical instruments.
• Interpret data and prepare clear, concise reports for internal and client use.
• Follow strict safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized laboratory.
• Collaborate with colleagues to troubleshoot analytical challenges and improve laboratory processes.
• Support ongoing quality control and assurance programs to ensure reliability of results.
• Participate in training and continuous professional development to stay current with analytical chemistry practices.

• Proficiency in chemistry and biology.
• Experience with LC-MS and wet chemistry techniques.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle a fast-paced, high-stress environment.

• BS or BA in a scientific discipline such as Chemistry, Biology, or Biochemistry.
• An Associate degree may also be considered.

This position is based in a QC Lab located in Washington, MO, about an hour from the city. The lab receives samples from clients and requires a quick turnaround time for data analysis. The Chemist will work alongside 8 other chemists, interacting with a variety of personalities. While the role requires independent work when running instruments, collaboration is essential during sample preparation. The lab environment is fast-paced and requires individuals who can maintain composure under stress.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Washington, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
