Position Type: Early Intervention Classroom Assistant
Starting Pay: $17.00 per hour (184 day position)
Where Early Learning Begins
Clairview School is home to the WIU’s Early Intervention classrooms, serving children ages 3–5. Our classrooms are intentionally staffed to provide individualized attention, strong relationships, and consistent support. Classroom assistants play a critical role in creating safe, welcoming, and literacy-rich learning environments that prepare children for Kindergarten and beyond.

Minimum Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates must:
· Hold an associate's degree in any field or obtain a paraeducator certificate
· Enjoy working with young children ages 3–5
· Demonstrate patience, reliability, and professionalism
· Be able to follow instructional plans and classroom routines
· Communicate effectively with teachers and related service staff
Prior experience in childcare, preschool, or special education is preferred but not required.
What You’ll Do Each Day
As an Early Intervention Classroom Assistant, you will:
· Support children during classroom routines, activities, and play-based learning
· Assist with small-group and individual instruction under teacher direction
· Help implement behavior and social-emotional supports
· Support early literacy and communication activities
· Assist with transitions, meals, and daily care routines as needed
· Help maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming classroom environment
· Communicate professionally and collaboratively with classroom teams
