Executive Function Coach - Part Time

Learning Resource Program

JOB SUMMARY:

This is an in-person, academic calendar part time position including the Fall and Spring semesters and Summer programming: 25 hours per week. The successful candidate will provide individualized coaching to students enrolled in the Learning Resource Program to enhance their executive functioning skills, including time management, organization, goal setting, and self-regulation. They will work closely with students to develop personalized strategies that promote academic success and overall well-being. Additionally indirect services, such as planning, reporting, and training are scheduled immediately prior to and following semesters. This position also requires occasional attendance at special events, such as Open Houses and Accepted Student Days, which are typically held during weekend hours.

SALARY INFORMATION:

In compliance with New York's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary for this position is $27,000. Adelphi University considers factors such as departmental budgets, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. An annual base salary higher than the range may be warranted in circumstances where a candidate has demonstrable equivalent prior higher education experience at another University.

REPORTS TO:

Associate Director of the Learning Resource Program

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  1. Conduct one-on-one coaching sessions with students to assess their executive functioning needs and develop tailored action plans.
  2. Assist students in setting achievable academic and personal goals, and provide ongoing support to achieve these goals.
  3. Teach effective time management, organizational, and study skills to help students manage their coursework and responsibilities.
  4. Monitor student progress and adjust coaching strategies as needed to ensure continuous progress.
  5. Collaborate with program staff to support student success.
  6. Develop and deliver workshops on executive functioning skills for students and program staff.
  7. Maintain timely and accurate records of coaching sessions and student progress.
  8. Stay current with best practices and research in executive function coaching and higher education support services.
  9. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS: (Knowledge, skills and abilities)

  1. Experienced working with college students in a coaching capacity, including a neurodiverse student population.
  2. Strong understanding of executive functioning skills and strategies to support their development.
  3. Professional knowledge of neurodiversity, including learning disabilities and ADHD.
  4. Ability to be organized and detail-oriented.
  5. Ability to prioritize workload according to volume, urgency, etc.
  6. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  7. Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
  8. Strong computer skills using MS Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, popular web browsers, G-Suite and email.

EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Masters of Education, Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field is required.
  2. Minimum two year's job-related work experience is required.
  3. Certification in executive function coaching and/or specialized training in coaching is preferred.
  4. Previous experience working with college-age, neurodiverse, students strongly preferred.
