This job is open to the public. U.S. Citizens - No previous federal service is required. This position is being advertised under an OPM government-wide Direct Hire authority.
Duties include: processing resource order requests, coordinating with other dispatch organizations, determining the status of available resources, performing intelligence duties, operating dispatch telecommunications systems, inputting data into fire-related computer applications, and providing technical guidance and training to other dispatchers.
Requirements include: U.S. Citizenship, direct deposit, background/suitability investigation, and meeting qualification requirements. For GS-04: one year of general experience or 2 years of coursework above high school. For GS-05: one year of specialized experience or 4 years of coursework above high school. For GS-06: one year of specialized experience or one year of graduate level education. For GS-07: one year of specialized experience or one year of graduate education.
Physical demands include long hours of sitting, intense concentration, and working at peak proficiency/intensity levels with irregular breaks and mealtimes. Work environment is performed primarily in an office setting with high noise levels.
