Full-Time Law Clerk – Student Loan/Bankruptcy Law Firm (Remote or Chicago-Based)

Compensation: $28/hour + performance bonuses

Position Type: Full-Time

Kaplan Law Firm, a leading student loan law practice, is seeking a motivated and experienced Law Clerk to join our growing team. We’re looking for someone who thrives in a high-volume environment, is passionate about helping people get out of student loan debt, and wants to grow with us long-term.

About the Role

You’ll support our legal team in seeing cases through from intake to resolution—playing a key part in delivering life-changing results for our clients. From helping with federal court filings to coordinating settlements in private student loan cases, your work will directly impact people’s financial futures.

Key Responsibilities

• File cases in federal court using the PACER system
• Assist attorneys with adversary proceedings, private loan settlements, and bankruptcy-related matters
• Coordinate and follow up with clients throughout their cases
• Draft and organize legal documents
• Maintain meticulous records and case files
• Support attorneys in research and case management
• Ensure timely task completion in a deadline-driven environment

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience at a law firm
• Strong familiarity with PACER/electronic federal court filing
• Bankruptcy experience is a plus
• Must be highly organized, self-motivated, and reliable
• Professional and friendly communication skills—you’ll be speaking with clients often
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and follow through without needing to be micromanaged
• Eagerness to learn and grow within a mission-driven legal team

Compensation & Growth

• Starting pay: $28/hour
