Its service has been tested and proven on all seven continents, has regulatory approvals in more than 30 countries and is currently being deployed commercially based on more than 40 MNO commercial service contracts covering approximately 50 countries. A pioneering satellite technology company is building the world’s first 3GPP-compliant space-based cellular network, and we're looking for a Networking Software Engineer to help make it real. You'll design and build the networking layer that powers end-to-end connectivity across a non-terrestrial (NTN) cellular infrastructure. This is a hands-on role where you’ll develop low-level networking software, implement critical signaling features, and contribute to performance-tuned, scalable systems that will connect millions of users around the globe — from space. What You’ll Do Design and implement network protocols for a space-based 3GPP cellular network Develop signaling and O&M (Operations & Maintenance) software components Build robust systems for end-to-end integration and network reliability Implement software testing systems to validate protocol behavior and performance Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to integrate networking logic into space-grade infrastructure What You Bring Strong grasp of TCP/IP, socket programming, and networking fundamentals Knows/understands protocols and knows one or more of Layers 3 through 7 Proficient in C++, Java, or a comparable OOP language Deep knowledge of design patterns (e.g., Singleton, Factory, Observer, Strategy) Solid understanding of dynamic memory, smart pointers, and STL (C++ vectors, maps, sets, algorithms) Strong grounding in algorithm complexity (Big O), and ability to write optimized, efficient code Experience with multithreaded applications, performance tuning, and profiling Familiar with unit testing frameworks like gTest Experience designing scalable systems and distributed architectures Familiarity with tools like Wireshark and tcpdump for packet analysis Hands-on exposure to cloud architecture Experience with wireless networking technologies: GSM, GPRS, LTE, 5G Familiarity with access and core protocols in 3GPP networks Prior work in system-level integration for cellular network deployments Experience in enterprise-grade architecture and cloud platforms (AWS preferred) Understanding of containerization: Docker, Kubernetes Experience with end-to-end deployments in mobile network environments Strong collaboration in cross-functional teams Clear communicator with a positive, problem-solving mindset Comfortable working independently and driving projects to completion Seniority level Seniority level Mid-Senior level Employment type Employment type Full-time Job function Job function Engineering and Information Technology Industries IT Services and IT Consulting and Software Development Referrals increase your chances of interviewing at Mission.dev by 2x Sign in to set job alerts for “Software Engineer” roles.
