The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Salaries generally start at step 1 and increase annually up to step 10.

The Position Pilots fly missions and aircraft varying with the department, maintaining current certification for agency aircraft, including jets, turboprops, rotorcraft, and others. Under supervision, incumbents perform duties in the series concept, qualified to pilot agency aircraft for fire suppression and wildlife survey activities, often flying in challenging conditions.
The Nevada Division of Forestry (NDF) seeks a Pilot 3 based at Minden airfield. Pilots operate UH-1H, B205, and B212S helicopters for fire control and resource management, conducting reconnaissance, suppression, helitack flights, and supporting incident command operations.

Qualifications Minimum Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent, with 3,500 flight hours in rotorcraft or multi-/single-engine aircraft, including specific experience in low-level, external load, mountain flying, and recent flight hours.
Special Requirements: Must pass pre-employment drug screening, hold a valid second-class medical certificate, and at the Pilot III level, possess a FAA commercial pilot certificate with rotorcraft or multi-engine land ratings, including instrument ratings.
