The  Cardiovascular Unit at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital embodies a culture of teamwork and effective communication, essential for providing specialized care to critically ill patients. This 12-bed unit (8 critical beds, 4 telemetry) operates within a trauma III hospital setting, ensuring patients receive optimal medical attention and support.

Qualifications and requirements

Applicants should have a current state RN license and possess an associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited nursing school. 

Additional requirements include:

  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification or obtain within 90 days after hire date.
  • Current American Heart Association ACLS certification or obtain within 6 months after hire date.
  • Successfully pass an arrhythmia exam within 90 days after hire date. 
  • NIHSS Certification obtained within 90 days after hire date.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. 
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. 
  • Language Skills: Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

 

Department/Unit Summary

  • 12 bed unit (8 critical beds, 4 telemetry)
  • Care for post STEMI (heart attack) patients, post Cardiac Cath care, Vascular procedure post care (FEMPOP, endarterectomy, vascular bypass, etc.), post bariatric surgery patient, etc. 
  • CVU self-schedules for staffing
