We’re looking for a Senior Android Engineer to join our Trust and Safety engineering team. This team is responsible for developing features that foster a trustworthy environment on Strava by protecting the physical and emotional safety of our athletes. As an Android Engineer, you will collaborate with cross-functional partners to design, develop, and optimize features that impact millions of users worldwide.

We follow a flexible hybrid model that generally translates to around half your time on-site in our San Francisco office—roughly three days per week.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will:

  • Work with a team of engineers, designers, product managers and analysts building a safe and trustworthy experience for Strava users.
  • Help define the future of the Android app at Strava.
  • Directly impact the experience of tens of millions of athletes.
  • Work alongside a close community of peers in a hybrid work environment.

You will be successful here by:

  • Excelling at user-centric product development.
  • Building beautiful, smooth, delightful mobile experiences.
  • Mentoring other engineers and providing technical leadership to the team.
  • Using your in-depth knowledge of all things Android to help drive technical conversations with peers.

We’re excited about you because you:

  • Have full-stack development experience building Android applications in a production environment using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose (a plus).
  • Stay up to date and experiment with the latest Android technologies.
  • Have a product-focused mindset to deliver projects that use technology to solve real business problems.
  • Enjoy working on mobile apps at all levels – from networking up to user interfaces.
  • Have expertise in building maintainable and testable code bases, including API design and unit testing techniques.
  • Can collaborate with Android, iOS, and Server engineers in order to ship features.
  • Have experience with or are excited to learn more about developing trust and safety solutions.
