Position Overview

The Volunteer Youth Engagement & Retention Coordinator plays a key role in strengthening the long-term impact of KIND Mentoring. This volunteer leader ensures that participating youth feel connected, valued, and consistently supported throughout their mentoring journey. The Coordinator will design and implement engagement strategies, support mentor–mentee cohesion, track retention data, and foster a positive environment that encourages youth to remain active in the program.

This role is ideal for someone with experience in youth work, community programs, ministry, coaching, education, or nonprofit leadership — and someone passionate about helping youth thrive.

Key ResponsibilitiesYouth Engagement

  • Build strong, positive relationships with participating youth and families.
  • Coordinate regular check-ins with youth to assess their experience and needs.
  • Plan small engagement activities (virtual or in-person) that build community and trust.
  • Encourage youth participation in workshops, events, and mentoring sessions.

Youth Retention & Support

  • Develop and implement youth retention strategies to improve ongoing participation.
  • Identify barriers that may prevent consistent involvement and work with mentors to resolve them.
  • Monitor attendance, engagement trends, and youth progress.
  • Provide timely follow-up for disengaged youth and reconnect them with mentoring support.

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with mentors, leadership, and support volunteers to ensure cohesive service delivery.
  • Assist with volunteer mentor training regarding youth engagement best practices.
  • Maintain communication channels between youth, families, and mentoring staff.

Administrative & Data Tracking

  • Track key metrics (attendance, participation, reasons for disengagement, etc.).
  • Prepare brief monthly reports summarizing trends and recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records following organizational guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Passion for helping youth thrive in a safe, encouraging, growth-oriented environment.
  • Experience in youth programming, social services, ministry, education, or mentoring preferred.
  • Strong communication, empathy, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Organized, reliable, and able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Background check required (organization-provided).

Time Commitment

  • Approximately 5–10 hours per week , flexible schedule.
  • Attendance at youth events, trainings, or team meetings.
