The Telecommunication Technician will take care of installation, troubleshooting, alterations and maintenance of the Company's products. Must examine the customer order and specification to ensure network installation is done properly. Must order and gather telecommunications equipment, materials, tools and supplies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Run, pull, splice and terminate cables for uninterrupted voice and data services for customers.
  • Maintain a record of the network equipment and cable by routing and labeling.
  • Works in collaboration with all departments to provide customers with the best service.
  • Testing circuits and equipment to ensure proper functioning of the services.
  • Perform system analysis in support of the system.
  • Have an in-depth understanding of the network components such as switches, ports, and routers.
  • Identify, monitor, report and resolve product related issues.
  • Manage multiple projects efficiently with timely reporting of status.
  • Routine tests on all the systems to ensure all the systems components are working in good condition.
  • Be up-to-date on the latest technologies to assist customers in the best possible way.
  • Network installations should be planned only after adequately studying the customer order, plans, and manuals. Must actively participate in the purchasing and assessment of equipment and installation.
  • Must have a good understanding of the industry standards and should update the voice and data networks.
  • Check the testing circuits, equipment and address the issues as quickly as possible.
  • Document the routing equipment and cables as per the specifications and configuration diagrams.
  • Should troubleshoot the errors and make sure the networks do not face any issues.
  • Provide a safe working environment by following the regulations and legal codes.
  • Keep a check on the orders and verify the receipts when delivered.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain a personal cell phone plan with adequate data capabilities and willingness to download company required aps.
  • Proficient in equipment operation for the buying of service drop cables and/or other network cabling.
  • Ability to perform locates and operate locating equipment.
  • Participate in an on-call schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Technical or scientific knowledge required in engineering and the telecommunication industry.
  • Valid state-issued driver's license and meet the company standard regarding driving a company vehicle.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time and work extended hours, nights, and weekends.
  • Strong telephone and interpersonal contact skills required.
  • Willingness to have telephone conversations monitored for quality performance.

REASONING ABILITY: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Job will require comfortability both in the field and behind a desk. Behind the desk demands include viewing monitor screens, reading manuals, and sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Field demands will include travel on occasion. Must have a valid driver's license and comply with the Company's motor vehicle policy. Other field demands will include:

  • Operate machinery such as bucket truck, drop bury equipment, etc.
  • The ability to climb ladders, use stairs, and use hand and electric tools.
  • Work in all types of weather conditions.
  • Work at heights of 35' or greater.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Some office environment and daily job site visits with customers.
